Border Lullaby
August 4, 2018
rocking, rocking, rocking
longing to touch your face
I can only send you
this border
lullaby
my dear child hear this my lullaby
whether long miles or steel bars between us lie
remember my child I love you
my song is not a goodby
my arms warm ever about you wrap
even when on cold floors you try so to nap
remember my breast feeding you
you so trusting in my lap
your dad too giving laughter so bright
putting your fears to rest when storms shatter night
remember strong hands helping you
his love bringing warm sweet light
I longed for freedom’s celebration
not journey ending in long separation
remember my desire for you
childhood full of elation
hold close my last seen smiles not my tears
my whispers of I love you easing your fears
remember my hopes for your life
become whole as dark storm clears
rocking, rocking, rocking
longing to touch your face
I can only send you
this border
lullaby
