Argent Rose     September 19, 2009

hand trembling

reached past thorns

yesterday love died

stole blue from shrieking sky

drained lake's glittering green

tore warm tones from skin once fair

bleached reddest rose

poured ebony ink across stilled heart

remaining soul knew only decay

yet

here glowing in garden regal

bloomed ghost grey rose

life brilliant, breathing gold

unearthly impossible light gleaming

incandescence somehow captured

giving warmth to anguished heart

hand trembling

reached past thorns

hesitated unsure

wanting to pluck jewel

but then understood

memories shy away from restraint

die when eposed to reality

scatter before a disbelieving wind

sighing

hand stilled

solaced heart

retraced steps

never looking back

leaving ghost grey rose

unlike the lost love

intact
