Wee Bit of History     March 15, 2009

     I am an equine veterinarian:

graced to work with horses, such wonderful steeds of wind.

Touch is important to herd animals, such as horses.  They nuzzle each other, groom each other and will breathe a last shared breath with their mates who are dying.

Horses are the wind formed into substance so that we humans may see their loyalty and beauty.

Whether I am being a doctor, composing a sonata, writing a poem or taking a photograph, it is my interaction with horses that lets my heart sing.  The codas, the variations, the change of keys occurs when other species enter in the chorus.

How blessed I am.  How blessed indeed with all my animal friends.
